And Baby Makes Seven, Paula Vogel’s 1984 play, broached the topic of gay parenting a generation ahead of the curve. I was brought on as the first designer hired by the producing / directing couple Marc Weitz and Constance Zaytoun of Purpleman Theater Company. Their goal was to bring the play into new light in a time when we are more openly dealing with the questions and societal morals of alternative family constructions.
We worked collaboratively from the beginning of the process on creating the first visuals and crafted language that would inform the rest of the production. I created a family of graphic and illustration based collateral including their show branding identity and tagline, website, print collateral, schwag, as well as creative direction on the fundraising video, crowdfunding website, and benefit event. An exciting process to say the least!
